The Eden Valley Hospice, Carlisle, is a community organisation dedicated to providing specialist care for adults in North Cumbria and South West Scotland who have life limiting conditions. In addition, they also provide care for their families, friends & carers.
The charity also cares for children and young adults from across Cumbria, at Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice.
They believe that every detail, every moment and every person matters. This belief allows them to achieve the highest standards of nursing and medical care, and to give help to people when they need it most. The Hospice aims to provide safe, responsive, effective and compassionate care in a warm, welcoming and friendly environment that conveys a sense of calm and peace.
All the care the Hospice provides to its patients and their families is free. However, it costs over 4 million pounds each year to run the charity and continue offering care and support to those who need it most. The Hospice only receives approximately 20% of this money from the NHS, meaning that more than 3 million additional pounds must be raised annually! It costs around 750 pounds for one patient to stay for one day in the Hospice!
